Psalms 1

1:1 How happy1 is the one2 who does not follow3 the advice4 of the wicked,5

or stand in the pathway6 with sinners,

or sit in the assembly7 of arrogant fools!8

1:2 Instead9 he finds pleasure in obeying the Lord’s commands;10

he intently studies11 his commands12 day and night.

1:3 He is like13 a tree planted by flowing streams;14

it15 yields16 its fruit at the proper time,17

and its leaves never fall off.18

He succeeds in everything he attempts.19

1:4 Not so with the wicked!

Instead20 they are like wind-driven chaff.21

1:5 For this reason22 the wicked cannot withstand23 judgment,24

nor can sinners join the assembly of the godly.25

1:6 Certainly26 the Lord rewards the behavior of the godly,27

but the behavior of the wicked is self-destructive.28
